How to write entries that hold up to a second reading
- Write it the same day. Notes made close to the event are more complete. The log records when you saved each entry and shows later edits.
- Facts first. Times, places, exact words in quotation marks, who was there. Leave out guesses about motives.
- One event per entry. It keeps the timeline readable and easy to filter.
- Keep the originals. Save the actual texts, emails, receipts and photos separately; the log points to them.
- Note the good days too. On-time exchanges show the pattern honestly, not only the problems.

Questions
What is a custody log?
A custody log (also called a custody journal or visitation log) is a dated record of parenting time: exchanges, late or missed pickups, schedule changes, child expenses and important communication. Keeping it as things happen means you do not have to rely on memory later.
Is this custody log private?
Yes. Entries are saved only in this browser on this device. They are not uploaded, and there is no account. Anyone who uses this browser profile can open the page, so use a device only you use.
How do I move my log to another device?
Use "Download backup" to save a .json file, then "Restore backup" on the other device. Restoring replaces the entries in that browser.
What does the PDF include?
Every entry in the date range and type you choose, in date order, with the scheduled and actual times, minutes late, place, people present, amounts, your notes, and the date and time each entry was recorded (plus the time of any later edit).
Can I use the PDF in court?
That decision belongs to the court, not to us. Rules on what a judge will look at differ by state and by case. The PDF is a tidy copy of your own notes; ask your attorney or the court self-help center whether and how to submit it.
